About

Bluegrass band Local Freight features clean harmonies, strong pickin’, and a solid groove. Seasoned musicians John Tibert (mandolin/vocals), Lynne Fountain (bass/vocals), Rich Piccarreto (guitar/vocals) and Gretchen Bowder (banjo/vocals) bring their varied musical backgrounds together on original songs and bluegrass classics alike, crafting a fresh, original sound, with solid traditional underpinnings.

Common threads entwined to bring this project together: a love for the music, and chance meetings at area jams and festivals that became friendships, and musical collaboration. Now in its 10th year, the band has demonstrated its experience and versatility at shows ranging from harvest and farm days, to weddings, nightclubs, coffeehouses, corporate events, private parties, and various New England area festivals and fundraisers. We look forward to playing your venue/event!

Press/Reviews

“Hire Local Freight for your wedding or event now! They are such amazing and fantastic pickers. We were so pleased with their music at our wedding … They were very responsive and accommodating to our special request. We had them play our cocktail hour, and my only regret is not having them play the whole reception. If you’re a fan of bluegrass look no further, this is the band you want. Thank you for making our special day extra special with your amazing sound for us to get down!”  Ryan – Montpelier, VT

“Thank you so much for playing for our party on Friday night. We had a blast!!! Local Freight was a huge hit and made our weekend all the more special.”  Brian – Portland, OR

“You guys sounded so great! The vibe you put out there really was exactly what we were hoping for and it helped shape the event.”  Ari – Boston, MA

“A Timeless New England Wedding at a Newport Mansion” Martha Stewart Weddings coverage of a July 2015 gig.

“Local Freight’s slogan is “Bluegrass that delivers,” and they make good on their promise by delivering clean harmonies, strong instrumentation, and a solid groove. While the band itself is fairly new to the bluegrass scene, it features four talented veteran bluegrass players: John Tibert on mandolin and vocals, Rich Piccaretto on guitar and vocals, Pete Fein on banjo and vocals, and Lynne Fountain on bass and vocals. They are regular features at The Bluegrass Throedown at Nick-a-Nees in Rhode Island and will be on the main stage at the Bluegrass on the Bogs festival in Hanson this spring.”   – Rockland News, January 2015

John Tibert featured in Westborough’s Community Advocate, August 2017
